The mystery of science and technology [discovered for the first time in the world! This”shrimp” 500 million years ago is a”four-unlike” animal with 5 strange-looking eyes] Chinese scientists have discovered a shrimp-shaped fossil 500 million years agoThe arthropod is one of the most successful animals on earth, but its origin has always been a mystery. Recently, the scientific research team of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences discovered for the first time a shrimp-shaped fossil more than 500 million years ago in the world, named”Zhang’s Kirin shrimp”. The body of”unicorn shrimp” has obvious characteristics of true arthropods, such as hardened epidermis, healed head shell, multi-segmented trunk and segmented legs. However, its head is embedded with the morphological structure of the arthropod ancestor type, including the Cambrian monster”Opabin Sea” The five unique eyes of the”Scorpion” and the predatory appendages of the giant top predator of the Cambrian”Odd Shrimp“. Therefore, the”unicorn shrimp” combines the physical characteristics of the true arthropod and the arthropod ancestor type, and is a rare”four-unlike” chimeric animal. The research team conducted a detailed comparative anatomical study on the fossil”unicorn shrimp”. Based on the research data accumulated for many years, combined with the unique chimeric morphology and evolutionary developmental biology analysis of the”unicorn shrimp”, the homology of the”exotic shrimp” and the first pair of appendages of true arthropods was demonstrated. The results show that the evolutionary position of”unicorn shrimp” is between”odd shrimp” and other true arthropods, and is located at the root of true arthropods. Like Archaeopteryx,”Unicorn Shrimp” represents an important transitional species predicted by Darwin’s theory of evolution, and it bridges the evolution from the strange shrimp to the true arthropod. This is another major scientific discovery of the”Chengjiang Fauna” in Yunnan, my country. It provides important fossil evidence to answer the”mystery of the origin of arthropods” and adds empirical evidence to the theory of biological evolution.
