International Online Report (Reporter Huang Tao):On the evening of December 31, 2020, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter ParalympicsSports icons are officially released. This marks new progress in the preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics. The sports icons are the prescribed actions of the previous Olympic Games and the graphical interpretation of sports events. Then, what are the characteristics and connotations of the sports icons of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics?
On the last day of 2020 to welcome the Winter Olympics Universal New Year’s Eve Ice and Snow Festival, representatives from the sports and literary circles jointly launched the icon publishing device. The sports icons of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics are unveiled as a whole!
There are 30 icons released this time, including 24 sports icons for the Beijing Winter Olympics and 6 sports icons for the Beijing Winter Paralympics. The icon design is inspired by Chinese characters and the main presentation form is the art of seal cutting. Lin Cunzhen, the chief designer of the design team and the deputy dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts School of Design, said that hieroglyphs have the basis for reproducing the form of characters:”We After I decided to start with the text, I went to the Chinese Academy of History for the first time to study Chinese characters from the oracle bone inscriptions and earlier carved symbols. Repeatedly thinking about how to use the characters most accurately, what structure, brushwork, composition and styles , Let everyone look like Chinese characters but can’t read what they are. Because you want to use a word to express the project is very complicated; and the goal we want to achieve is through the image with the sense of text, through sports Form to express Chinese culture.”
Lin Cunzhen pointed out that this design and the Beijing Summer Olympic emblem“Chinese seal” Echoing from afar-both are seal styles, and all choose the form of seal carving, but the Winter Olympics icons are more focused on the characteristics of the”Han Seal”; this is the cultural imprint left by the”Double Olympics City” Beijing to the world and reflects the cultural heritage of the Olympic Movement . In addition, the design team also hopes that sports icons that are”moved” by the popular ultra-moving image can attract more young people. In order to better combine the elements of winter sports with traditional Chinese culture, the design team also solicited and referred to the opinions of athletes.
The curling icon refers to the sliding action of the former curling world champion Wang Bingyu when he throws the pot. Wang Bingyu is currently the director of the curling competition of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee. Talking about the collision of ideas with the design team during the process, she said:“We have been thinking about what kind of pattern to represent curling. Like the current sliding posture is representative, there are two people’s ice sweeping posture, including Whether it presents a base camp, etc. We have all collided with such ideas. But a small icon should be more concise, intuitive, and more impactful. Don’t let everyone guess, but you will know it is ice at a glance. The kettle is wheelchair curling. In the end, we all liked and chose this icon.”
Sports icons will be widely used in the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games landscapes, instruction systems, tickets, and Television broadcasting, news propaganda, market development and other fields. Therefore, its practicality is also very important. Tong Lixin, director of the Sports Department of the Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said:”Our icon this time is still distinctive. It covers 15 sub-items. Like single board Skiing and freestyle skiing also include aerial skills, obstacle chasing, and other subdivisions, all of which can be distinguished. Each competition venue has its own sports icon. This way the audience will not get lost-the logo on the ticket is the same as the logo on the venue. You know exactly what games you want to watch.”
According to our understanding, the icon design lasted about half a year. The International Olympic Committee The International Paralympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee and various winter sports federations all spoke highly of the final draft.
Speaking of why we chose to release the icon on the occasion of the New Year’s Eve, Gao Tian, deputy director of the Cultural Activities Department of the Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, said:”The new year comes, and the pace of the Beijing Winter Olympics is getting more and more. Recently, through the release of sports icons, I would like to say to friends all over the world that the Winter Olympics wishes everyone a happy new year!
