China News Service, Xiamen, May 1, (Yang Fushan, Li Tinghui) Fujian Province’s largest amateur Go Tour-“Industrial Bank Cup” 2021 Xiamen Amateur Go Tour kicked off on the 1st at Xiamen Hongshan Academy , Nearly 170 people from 12 teams participated.

According to the organizer, the tournament starts in May and ends in October. It adopts a single round-robin tournament system. It has 5 stations and 11 rounds throughout the year. It is the longest Go tournament in mainland China’s amateur tournaments.

Sponsored by Xiamen Broadcasting and Television Group, Xiamen Go Association, Xiamen Academy of Classical Learning, there are 5 games for each match, the first 4 are individual games, and the 5th is a two-person joint game. There are a total of 30 games in each round.

According to reports, the competition will not only continue to combine Go with academies, but will also follow the footsteps of the national hero Zheng Chenggong who lived and fought in Xiamen, along the Hongshan Jiaxing Village and Zheng Chenggong’s study place ( Taipingyan Temple), Gulangyu Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall, etc., through the “Success Journey”, organically combined the Go culture with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the spirit of patriotism, giving the game a unique cultural charm.

Zheng Chenggong regained Taiwan’s historical merits and made him a sage of the common beliefs of the people on both sides of the strait, forming a unique belief culture on both sides of the strait, which has a history of more than 300 years.

Zheng Chenggong is also a Go enthusiast. This is evidenced by his successors’ “Zheng Chenggong Playing Chess Map” and “Taiwan Traveling Music Map”, and the important figures Zheng Jing (Zheng Chenggong’s son) and Zheng Hongkui (Uncle Zheng Chenggong) ), Qian Qianyi (Teacher Zheng Chenggong) also like Go, Zheng Jing once wrote Go poems.

The competition combines the popularization and promotion of Go culture with the inheritance of traditional Chinese learning and the promotion of patriotism spiritual civilization by means of competition, giving Go more vigor in the new era.

Compared with last year, the scale of this tournament has reached a new high. The number of participants has increased from 150 to nearly 170. Almost all the elites in Xiamen’s amateur Go field have been gathered.

While the scale of the tournament is expanding, the influence of the tournament is expanding, attracting high-level foreign chess players from the surrounding cities of Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, and even the whole country to participate in the competition.
