CCTV News (News Broadcast): From Lianyungang in the eastern coastal city to The Horgos Port in Xinjiang in the northwest border, Lianhuo Expressway traverses my country’s east and west, as my country’s longest expressway and an important channel for inland trade, Lianhuo Expressway is also known as the “modern Silk Road.”

In the Xi’an International Port Area, expressways and China-Europe Express trains have built a modern transportation network extending in all directions. Since the opening of the whole line in December 2014, Lianhuo Expressway has injected strong vitality into the economic and social development of the areas along the route. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the average GDP growth rate of the six provinces and cities along the line in the first four years of the “13th Five-Year Plan” reached 7.3%, which was 0.7 percentage points higher than the national average growth rate over the same period.
