Data from the Ministry of Health in India show that in 24 hours the country has 6,148 Covid-19-related deaths ( Including 3951 cases not previously counted in Bihar), and the number of new cases reported in a single day remained below 100,000 for the third consecutive day.

According to Reuters, after Bihar, one of India’s poorest states, revised its total death toll related to Covid-19 from about 5,400 to more than 9,400 on Wednesday, the death toll Rising, including those who died at home or in private hospitals.

India is fighting a destructive second wave of outbreaks that began in February and accelerated in April and early May, which overwhelmed the country’s medical infrastructure. Family members of patients struggled to seek help amid shortages of beds, oxygen and medication, while many doctors and other health care workers succumbed to the disease. Although the cases peaked in early May, government officials have sounded the alarm about a third wave of outbreaks that may hit the country later this year.

The Indian government estimates that as more vaccine candidates are expected to obtain regulatory approval, there may be more than 2 billion doses of vaccine by December. Indian Prime Minister Modi said this week that India will provide free Covid-19 vaccine to all adults.
