On May 17, the 2021 World Telecommunications and Information Society Day Conference was held in Zhengzhou, Henan. The picture shows a corner of the exhibition hall of the 2021 World Telecommunication and Information Society Day Conference. Our reporter Liu Kun/Guangming Picture
On June 20th, the China Telecom Museum, located at No. 42 Xueyuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing, reopened. Here, the earliest “half radio station” of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, the first domestically produced analog mobile phone and other collections, as well as old photos and paragraphs of stories, outline the red communication from its difficult start to development, leap, and take-off The historical picture scroll shows the glorious development of generations of information and communication people.
The hundred-year journey has been magnificent, and the heart of the century will grow stronger as time goes by.
In the era of raging wars, red radio waves broke through the enemy’s blockades and spread to all of China and the world. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the communications industry developed rapidly, providing people with information networks and services that were “usable, affordable, and well-used”. Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, my country has built the world’s largest information and communication network. The development of 5G networks is leading, application innovations are emerging one after another, and the status of a network power is gradually established.
1 From “Half Radio” to “Information Superhighway”
Comrade Mao Zedong wrote in “The First Encirclement and Suppression of Yujiaao·Fan”: “The fog is full Qianzhang of Longgang went dark, called in unison, and caught Zhang Huizhan.”
Liao Huiling, an employee of China Mobile, was on the site of the first radio reconnaissance station of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants Red Army in Xiaobu Town, Ningdu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. It was introduced that on December 30, 1930, the First Red Army wiped out more than 9,000 members of the 18th Division of the Kuomintang and seized a radio station in the first battle against “encirclement and suppression”.
Actually, this is only a “half radio station”, because the transmitter is broken and can only receive reports, not send reports.
Introduced by Liao Huiling, in January 1931, Wang Wei, Liu Yin and others used the captured “half The “Ministry Radio” set up its antenna and received news from the Kuomintang Central News Agency for the first time. This marked the establishment of the first radio reconnaissance station of the Red Army. Since then, this “half radio station” has repeatedly made extraordinary achievements in the Red Army’s battles.
The thrilling history of revolutionary development is also the history of red communication. During the war, the Red Army’s radio communication network grew out of nothing, and its radio technology power continued to grow, providing strong support for the party’s leadership and military command, and laying the foundation for the establishment and development of new China’s information and communications industry.
Time and space change, and the spirit is eternal.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the people’s communication needs have increased day by day. Under the leadership of the party, the communications industry has achieved leapfrog development, and modern communications technologies and businesses have “flyed into the homes of ordinary people.”
At the end of 1957, an international wireless communication network with Beijing, Shanghai, and Xinjiang radio stations as the backbone, and a domestic long-distance wired communication network with Beijing as the center were established across the country. In 1958, the Beijing Telegraph Building was completed and put into production. New China’s first large-scale integrated communications hub; in 1959, my country built its first microwave circuit…
In November 1987, Guangzhou took the lead in opening a cellular analog mobile phone system in the country, and opened up the country’s first A cellular analog mobile phone. Subsequently, mobile phones gradually became known, and “Big Brother” became popular. The development of my country’s mobile communications set sail from this, and the information and communications industry opened a new chapter.
From the telegraph to the telephone, from the pager to the “big brother”, from the feature phone to the smart phone, the information communication tools used by people continue to “evolve”; from the integrated management of government and enterprise by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications to China The three major operators of China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom are “three pillars”. The market competition in my country’s communications industry continues to increase, operating efficiency continues to improve, service quality continues to improve, and tariffs continue to decrease. The “information highway” extends in all directions.
At the same time, my country’s Internet industry and technology are developing rapidly. The 47th “Statistical Report on China’s Internet Development Status” released by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) shows that as of December 2020, the number of Internet users in my country has reached 989 million, and the Internet penetration rate has reached 70.4%. With the Internet within reach, new business formats emerge one after another, and the channels for people to obtain information have become more diverse.
Liu Liehong, deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that at present, the number of 4G base stations in my country accounts for more than half of the global total. my country’s 5G network development is leading the way. As of the end of March 2021, my country has built 819,000 5G base stations, accounting for more than 70% of the world, and has built the world’s largest 5G independent networking network.
2 Let the people “use it, afford it, and use it well”
“This year’s June 18, I snapped up a smart watch online with a 5G mobile phone. I also bought some small appliances such as hair dryers. The 5G network speed is very fast, and it is convenient and cost-effective to “buy, buy and buy” on the Internet.” said Zhao Jiangjiang, who lives in Zhengzhou, Henan. According to statistics, from 0:00 on June 1st to 24:00 on June 18th, Jingdong’s “6·18” cumulative order amount exceeded 343.8 billion yuan, setting a new record.
The convenience of online shopping is inseparable from a strong information network guarantee.
In June 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G commercial licenses to China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Radio and Television, marking the first year of my country’s 5G commercial use; October 31 , The three basic telecom operators released 5G packages, and from November 1st, the majority of users began to use 5G. Since then, my country’s 5G package subscribers and 5G mobile phone consumption have achieved rapid growth.
As of the end of April 2021, the total number of mobile phone users of the three basic telecommunications companies reached 1.605 billion, and the number of 5G mobile phone terminal connections reached 310 million.
Of course, not just “fast”. With the development of projects such as “Village to Village” and “Broadband Village”, the common people can share the fruits of the “information highway” development even in remote areas.
Nowadays, the Xinren Miao Village in Qianxi County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province has not only taken off the hat of a deeply impoverished village, but has also become a “5G digital village”. Many villagers have entered the live broadcast room. As a “carrying anchor”, the villagers can also enjoy 5G telemedicine and other services, and their lives are prosperous.
While the “information highway” is rapidly spreading and the “big network” of information is constantly being woven, the speed increase and fee reduction have also taken greater steps, benefiting thousands of households. According to data from international speed testing agencies, my country’s fixed broadband speed ranks 18th among 176 countries and regions in the world, and mobile network speed ranks 4th among 139 countries and regions in the world. According to the monitoring of the Global Association for Mobile Communication Systems, the average monthly expenditure of mobile communication users in my country is US$5.94, which is lower than the global average of US$11.36.
Convenient and efficient information network has brought more convenience to people’s lives. In 2020, in the face of the sudden new crown pneumonia epidemic, the national integrated government service platform launched the “epidemic prevention health code”, which has applied for nearly 900 million people and used more than 40 billion people; major online education platforms have launched various types of students for student groups. Free live courses are convenient for students to study at home, and the number of users is growing rapidly.
Experts believe that in the future, a new generation of information technology will further play an important role in promoting economic recovery, ensuring social operations, and promoting international anti-epidemic cooperation.
3 5G technology, industry, and applications enter the “no man’s land”
“5G is the’rigorous need’ for digital transformation and upgrading of the mining industry.” A head of a coal mining company in Shanxi introduced , 5G technology can realize remote control of roadheaders, coal mining machines, hydraulic supports and other equipment, and high-definition monitoring and control of the whole process of blasting, mining, and transmission, realizing less humanized and unmanned underground operations, and solving traditional manual operations The problem of high operating risk factor and high labor intensity.
At the same time, 5G can greatly improve the efficiency of underground mining. According to estimates, mining companies can increase their production efficiency by 20% to 30% after using 5G and other new-generation information technologies. With the “blessing” of 5G networks, more applications continue to be enriched and improved, and 5G is accelerating its integration into thousands of industries.
Wang Zhiqin, vice president of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, believes that the in-depth integration of new-generation information and communication technologies and manufacturing systems is the key support for accelerating the digital, networked, and intelligent development of various industries. In particular, the ultra-large bandwidth and ultra-low latency of the 5G network ensure the millisecond-level transmission of massive data, making the integration effect more apparent.
Currently, a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are advancing globally, and information technology is changing with each passing day. While 5G promotes the development of digital industrialization, it will effectively enhance the digitalization level of my country’s industry, with huge development potential. It is estimated that by 2025, 5G will drive about 1.2 trillion yuan in network construction investment, drive 8 trillion yuan in information consumption, and directly drive economic added value of 2.93 trillion yuan.
“my country is one of the first 5G commercial countries in the world. 5G technology, industry, and applications have entered no man’s land, especially for industries. There is no precedent for promoting the integration and innovation of 5G and the real economy. There is no experience to see, no standards to rely on. It is necessary to follow the laws of mobile communication technology evolution, network construction, and market development, based on national conditions, and embark on a road of 5G development with Chinese characteristics.” Liu Liehong said.
The “Outline” of the “14th Five-Year Plan” is clear to build a high-speed ubiquitous, integrated world, integrated interconnection, safe and efficient information infrastructure, and enhance data perception, transmission, storage and computing capabilities. Accelerate the large-scale deployment of 5G networks, increase the user penetration rate to 56%, and promote the upgrade of gigabit optical fiber networks. Forward-looking layout of 6G network technology reserves. This is an inevitable choice to conform to the general trend of the digitalization of the world economy and to generate new momentum for development.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated: “Looking forward to the future, we must proceed from the general international and domestic trends, make overall arrangements, coordinate all parties, continue to innovate, promote the high-quality development of the information and communication industry, and strive to write a new chapter in the construction of a network power.”< /p>
