The main author of the paper, CNRS researcher Fabien Condamine from the Montpellier Institute of Evolutionary Sciences (France) said: “We observed the largest population of the Cretaceous The six dinosaur families spanned from 150 million years to 66 million years ago, and it was discovered that they were all evolving and expanding as a whole, which was obviously successful.”

The team used Bayesian modeling techniques to explain several uncertainties, such as incomplete fossil records, uncertainties in fossil age determination, and uncertainties in evolutionary models. Each model was run millions of times to consider all these possible sources of error and to find out whether the analysis would converge to an agreed most probable result.
Guillaume Guinot of the Montpellier Institute for Evolutionary Sciences also helped with the calculations. He added: “In all cases, we found evidence of decline before the crater impact.
