Aerospace startup Astra plunges 20% after its launch mission suffered technical failure on Saturday and ultimately failed

It is understood that Astra Space previously went public through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) operated by telecommunications tycoon Craig McCaw. In addition, the company stated that it has collected valuable data from this flight and will prepare to test more rockets again soon.

This is the first commercial launch of Astra Space. During this flight, Astra Space signed a launch contract with the US Space Force to test the payload according to its space test plan. Since December last year, Astra Space has tested various upgrades to its rockets. Although the previous mission successfully entered space, the rocket ran out of fuel and could barely reach orbit.

It is worth noting that Astra Space’s competitor Rocket Lab USA Inc. Nearly 24 flights have been completed since 2017, and it is currently busy developing a larger aircraft. In addition, Virgin Orbit, a private company separated from Virgin Galactic by Richard Branson, completed its first commercial mission in June this year.
