China News Service, Shigatse, September 10 (Reporter Li Hanxue) Panchen Erdeni Choekjeb, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, and Chairman of the Tibet Branch of the Buddhist Association of China, came to Shigatse on the 7th The Laluo Water Conservancy Project in Jiaxian County and the resettlement sites of the immigrants in the reservoir area visited and inspected, and encouraged the local villagers to cherish the development opportunities given by the party and the state, persist in diligent efforts, and build a more beautiful home.
The Laluo Water Conservancy Project and its supporting irrigation area project (hereinafter referred to as the Laluo Project) is located in a high-altitude area about 4,300 meters above sea level. It is one of the most invested water conservancy projects in the history of Tibet’s water conservancy development. The project focuses on irrigation, taking into account water supply, power generation and flood control, and promotes the improvement of regional ecology. At the end of last year, the Laluo Project officially generated electricity and the irrigation area was successfully tested. The villages associated with the project changed from the “dry area” to the “irrigation area”.

On the same day, the Panchen Lama visited the dam, reservoir and hydropower station of the Lalo Project. Knowing that the project can supply more than 80 million kilowatt-hours a year, it not only guarantees the normal use of electricity in Shigatse, but also provides power to the Ngari area, the Panchen Lama can’t help but praise.
There is a fish channel on the side of the dam for fish migration in the reservoir area. It is currently one of the highest artificial fish channels in the world. Through the glass observation window on the dam, you can get a bird’s eye view of the fishway. Because the dam is more than 60 meters high, standing on the observation window and listening to the gurgling water is shocking. The Panchen Lama also tried to step up to the observation window to look down and smile knowingly with his colleagues.

At the Lalo Hydropower Station, the Panchen Lama extended condolences to the staff who stick to their posts: “You have stayed at your posts for a long time, staying away from your relatives and friends, and regardless of personal altitude sickness. Then the Panchen Lama came to Sakya County. Visited the family of the elderly Ouzhu in the village at the resettlement site of Laluoku District, Gajilin Village, Chaxiu Township. In March last year, 203 households and 1,380 people in the reservoir area completed the relocation. They moved from the adobe houses at an altitude of more than 4,300 meters to a new village at an altitude of about 3,800 meters and lived in new houses with a brick-concrete structure. The Ouzhu family lived in a small two-story building.
When the Panchen Lama arrived, the villagers offered Hatta and Chema; the Ouzhu family had already welcomed them at the door and prepared fruits, desserts and butter tea at home. The Panchen Lama greeted Ou Zhu’s family and asked carefully about his life after the relocation. The old people told the Panchen Lama that living conditions have become very good now, and that they live well, and they are very grateful for the care of the party and the country.
