NASA has finalized a new space telescope proposal, “Cosi”, which will be launched in 2025

NASA expects Cosi to be launched in 2025, which is the agency’s latest small astrophysics mission. Astrophysical explorers plan to receive 18 different telescope proposals in 2019, of which 4 were selected for mission concept research. NASA thoroughly investigated each proposal and finally chose Cosi to continue to enter the development stage

for decades, NASA has been looking for opportunities for smaller missions to fill the gap in human knowledge of the universe. Cosi will help scientists better understand the origin of chemical elements in the Milky way, which will also help form the earth as we know it. This mission will study the gamma rays produced by radioactive atoms after the explosion of massive stars

Cosi will map where chemical elements form in the Milky way and investigate the origin of positrons in the Milky way, also known as anti electrons. Antielectrons are subatomic particles with the same mass as electrons, but they have a positive charge

with launch costs, NASA expects the mission to cost $145 million. At present, NASA has not selected a launch partner. The technology used in the mission has been developed over the past few decades using sounding balloons. In 2016, an early version of the gamma ray instrument was brought to high altitude by NASA’s overpressure balloon, which can fix heavy objects in high altitude for a long time
