“the completion of packaging is an important milestone in the dart launch process because it marks the last direct contact with the spacecraft and all major test milestones before the launch,” said Joan Misner, integration engineer of NASA launch service program. “The team works around the clock to make sure they don’t miss anything.”

on November 17, NASA’s launch service program (LSP), SpaceX and dart launch managers completed a flight readiness review (FRR) in Vandenberg. The purpose of FRR is to update the mission status of the team, end the action of previous readiness review, and prove that it is ready to continue to start the final launch preparation activities

dart is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg at 1:21 a.m. Eastern time on November 24, which is the first mission to test the technology to prevent dangerous asteroids from hitting the earth. DART’s target asteroid does not pose a threat to the earth. LSP, a multi-user space port in the United States, is managing the launch at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida

Johns Hopkins applied physics laboratory has been instructed to manage dart missions for NASA’s Planetary Defense coordination office as a project of the agency’s planetary mission planning office. NASA supported the mission from several centers, including the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, the Johnson Space Center in Houston, the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and the Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia
