On June 11, the immersive experience of the Dragon Boat Festival custom of Quyuan’s hometown “daughter returning to her mother’s home” was held in Shizhu village, Jiuwanxi Town, Zigui County, Hubei Province. Folk activities such as making zongzi, dancing dragon and lion, and sitting in a sedan chair attracted many local married daughters and foreign tourists. Zigui is the hometown of Quyuan. The custom of commemorating Quyuan on the local Dragon Boat Festival has been going on for many years. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated three times a year, which is even more grand than the Spring Festival. There is a saying that “the eldest daughter returns to her mother’s home after the Dragon Boat Festival”. According to local customs, the daughter and son-in-law will take their children back to their parents’ home to celebrate the “Big Dragon Boat Festival” before the 15th day of the fifth lunar month.
